The majority of shooting I do with my Winchester Model 94.44 Magnum is plinking to keep my eye sharp. Lead bullets make great, inexpensive, mild-recoiling loads for this general shooting.Jan 19, 2020 · Picked up a 44 magnum super Blackhawk. Mar 21, 2011 · I have some .44 bullets as light as 120 grains. One of my favorites is a 135 grain bullet from an ancient Ideal mould with enough Titegroup to go just under 1000 fps. It's like shooting a .22, but makes a bigger hole. And that is the neat thing about .44 Mag rifles: The range of bullets and loads they will shoot. I always start low, my 44 Mag plinking load is 10% below the minimum that my load data shows anyway. I'll be following the same procedure for the .44 Special, just wanted to make sure that the magnum primers wouldn't cause any issues. Weapon of choice is a Ruger Redhawk, certainly a magnum frame weapon.

I use Unique and Universal Clays in .44 Mag and .45 Colt. I like the Universal as it does burn a lot cleaner than Unique. I load around 8 to 9grs under a Lasercast 240gr hardcast for a plinking load in the 44. I find that if you go too hot with Universal or Unique it can lead to leading. pretty much all the 'magnum' powders listed for the .44 mag are suited to the longer barrel. I would use 2400, 20 grains under the 240s and 22 grains under the 200s. I had a Henry big boy for years and this is what it shot best. And if you want a plinkin load with lead for the mag cases, use 8 grains of unique under a 240 grain hardcast boolit.Wanted Reduced plinking loads for 444 Marlin. Berry bullets are perfect for target shooting. I will never shoot lead or coated bullets again. Load with a lead bullet load and have fun plinking all day. These bullets let you shoot a 44 Magnum without blowing your wrists apart. Will buy again.

Jun 27, 2011 · For the .44 Spl., for me there is only one load. This is the late Skeeter Skelton's pet load of 7.5 gr. of Unique and the 240/250 gr. Elmer Keith bullet. Mild enough for plinking and stout enough for deer and most hogs if they're under the weight you said. When I bought my S&W 624 6.5" that was the first load I tried and have never looked back. For the .44 magnum, I've used 2400 and W296. W296 and H110 BTW are just different lots of the same powder.
