To say that I was fed up with FM radio is an understatement. The car kit was pretty simple to install and took me about 30mins to do a temporary setup. The XM radio functions pretty much like the Sirius radio. Reading the manual is not required unless you plan to use the extra features.

For me I have realized that the antenna is my lest of concern, the first is the rack. I know that I can unscrew the antenna and I will still recieve xm or I can purchase a much smaller antenna @ stubbyantenna.com. My previous vehicle was a Ford Explorer and I removed the rack to get it in. I use the XM-PCR on my Car PC and listen to it for hours every day. It's worth noting, though, that the XMPCR is a pretty simple device. It would be incredibly easy to build a DIY one out of any XM radio. Here's why: XM sells a receiver module to radio manufacturers.

If you have a brand new mini-mag antenna with the same plug, and you are still getting the 'check antenna' message, the connector in the radio itself (or its cradle - you didn't say which model you have) is the culprit. Replacing the FM portion of the antenna (the T connection with the wire that goes to the truck antenna) will not fix it.
